Dr Dulhunty is also Director of Research & Medical Education, Redcliffe Hospital and Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology. Currently, Dr Dulhunty supervises and mentors a large number of clinician-researchers in the design and conduction of research and quality improvement projects relating to clinical care, health services management and medical education in an outer metropolitan public teaching hospital (Redcliffe Hospital) and a quaternary metropolitan public teaching hospital (Department of Intensive Care Medicine, Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital). In addition, he regularly lectures multidisciplinary clinicians, junior doctors and medical students on study design, statistical analysis, and the ethical and governance considerations with conducting research and quality improvement projects. Dr Dulhunty has a research track record in the field of critical illness, burns management and sepsis and has been instrumental in the design and coordination of a stepwise programme of research to determine optimal β-lactam antibiotic dosing in patients with sepsis and septic shock.
